How do I use the oxygen microsensor for measurement in ice?

The hair thin sensor tip (< 50 µm) has to be exposed for measurement and the very sensitive tip might get damaged when hitting a solid surface.

One way to conduct measurements with an oxygen microsensor in ice is to perform sensor calibration first and then let the sensor be frozen into the ice.

It is also possible to insert a needle-type oxygen microsensor into the skeletal ice layer and measurements can be taken in the space between the ice lamellae.
