Industry insiders elect VisiSens as one of the top innovations 2012

September 3, 2012

The VisiSens A1 oxygen imaging system by PreSens Precision Sensing GmbH took second place in the field of Laboratory Equipment & Technology of the G.I.T. InnovationsAward 2012. Industry insiders reading the G.I.T. Laboratory Journal and visiting Analytica 2012 in Munich and Achema 2012 in Frankfurt voted for their favourite innovations which were preselected by a jury of scientists.

The jury was convinced by VisiSens, a system measuring and visualizing oxygen distribution in 2D for biological and life science research. For this purpose a fluorescent chemical optical sensor foil is attached to e. g. a living, heterogeneous sample surface. The sensor response is recorded pixel by pixel with a handheld digital camera powered via USB and allows mapping of metabolic activity: A single image captures information of a whole array of sensor points. Examples for applications are visualized respiration in leaves, oxygen dynamics in the rhizosphere of crop plants, and perfusion monitoring in skin flaps.

Customers are pleased with the easy evalution of their measurements via the image processing software and the fact tha everyone can handle the system within minutes.
