Patients will benefit from fast sensor response

May 10, 2010

With its first participation at the MD&M East in New York from June 8 - 10, 2010, PreSens demonstrates its constantly growing expertise in the field of medical devices.

The displayed oxygen sensors in booth 2029 offer outstanding technical data with regard to resolution and long-term stability. The winner in the race for health and medical help will be the patients - as the cardiac surgeon, e. g., arrives sooner to a very vital decision due to the very fast sensor response and the precise pO2 reading. Another example: The main cause for secondary cerebral damage is considered to be lack of oxygen to the brain (ischaemia). The faster the oxygen partial pressure is measured, the better the chances for the patient. "It is the flexible nature of the sensor spots wich supports a free design of the perfusion cell." points out Christian Huber, PhD, R & D Division at PreSens Precision Sensing. "This flexibility allows the usage of the spots in a multitude of applications."
