The future of single-use manufacturing systems

February 1, 2010

BPSA took the next step to encourage and accelerate the adoption and implementation of single-use manufacturing systems in the biopharmaceutical industry.

The Bio Process Systems Alliance (BPSA) started 2010 as affiliate partner of the Society of Organic Chemical Manufacturers and Affiliates (SOCMA). This transition from the Society of the Plastic Industry to SOCMA takes account of a development which started in 2008, when BPSA accepted bio-pharmaceutical and biotech firms like PreSens Precision Sensing GmbH as member companies. Being one of the first members out of this group of companies, PreSens supported this transition actively and is convinced that this development will pave the way to a fruitful exchange between end users of single-use systems and suppliers.

The necessity of this exchange of experiences and possible innovations became obvious in the course of the BPSA Fall Meeting 2009 in Raleigh, NC. This fascinating field of work still offers challenges which benefit from the interaction between suppliers and users, as pointed out by Gernot Thomas John, Director Marketing & Innovation, PreSens GmbH, during his speech at the Expert Interactive Panel "Present & Future of Single-use Sensors in Bioprocessing".
