Can I use the SDR for measurement of photosynthesis?
The sensors in the disposable plates cannot be used for set-ups involving ambient light or even illumination, because the fluorescent dye embedded in the sensor will bleach. However, photosynthesis can be monitored with the 2, 4 or 20 mL SensorVials, which use an oxygen sensor with a black optical isolation. This optical isolation shields the sensitive dye from the light. Additionally, PreSens offers the SDR-MSV24 (2 and 4 mL SensorVials) and the SDR-MSV12-20mL (20 mL SensorVials) Shielding Masks, which were specifically designed for photosynthesis measurements. The mask shields the SDR optics from ambient or artificial light used in these experiments and ensures precise measurements.
