Scientists Talking the Same Language

May 16, 2012

Cross-scientific projects and research assignments are more and more common. And it is not always a fairy tale that each scientist speaks her or his own language. Already the usage of completely different measuring units can make an exchange of information difficult and prone to errors. An easy-to-use conversion table for oxygen units now offered online by PreSens might be another step for scientists being able to talk the same language.

One of the essential parameters measured probably a million times a day is oxygen - but the results differ quite often as we have seven different measuring units just for oxygen: % air saturation, % oxygen, hPa, Torr, mg/L, ppm and µmol/L. Having a group of scientists working on the same project, the physician will measure in Torr, the biotechnologist in % air saturation and the biologist in % oxygen. As PreSens Precision Sensing is aware of this challenge the company being involved in a multitude of research assignments and having customers from very different industry fields and scientific research, a calculation sheet for oxygen units was created and can now be downloaded from our website Tools & Utilities.

The calculation sheet is an excel sheet that allows the user to enter the measurement results in one of the seven possible units and to change temperature and atmospheric pressure. As soon as you have made modifications in one of the cells, the excel sheet will show you immediately the correct results in the other measuring units. This calculation sheet is a free of charge offer to all visitors to our website.
