We have a Winner for the 2020 SensorPlug Competition

February 24, 2021

We congratulate the team from the Dokuz Eylül University in Izmir! Their detailed report on online measurements during microglia polarization in a microfluidic chip convinced our jury.

Like in all other aspects of every-day life, the Covid-19 pandemic also influenced and delayed our last years’ SensorPlug competition. The participants had the chance to use our new SensorPlug technology to measure O2, pH and CO2 online in their microfluidic applications. However, with universities and labs closed, it took a little longer till our jury could evaluate the sent in competition reports.

We are happy to finally announce the winners:
Assoc. Prof. Duygu Sag, group leader of immunology, and Assoc. Prof. Sinan Güven, group leader of bioengineering, together with their PhD and master students, used the SensorPlugs to follow pH and O2 changes in 2D microglia culture during polarization. They discovered unexpected oxygen levels in cultures with stimulated cells. Luckily, as part of their prize they can now keep the PreSens measurement systems and conduct further experiments to examine this in detail.

Results from the winning competition report are published here!

We would like to thank all participants for their time and commitment and hope you all have enjoyed working with the PreSens SensorPlugs and measurement systems.
